Web Design: The Digital Opps Approach. Having designed, developed and launched over 85 WordPress websites over the last seven years alone, our website project management process has been refined to meet the specific objectives of each website project and to ensure that the project timelines are met and budgets are not exceeded. While each project may have unique requirements, our project management process consists of five phases.
Project Discovery – While many of our projects begin with a response to an RFP/RFQ, we have found that an initial discovery meeting with our client allows us the opportunity to learn more about the organization and its overall goals and objectives. The discovery process also provides us an opportunity to begin collecting existing branding materials and content as well as inspiration for new content that energizes the project and our relationship with our new client.
Project Concepts and Design Elements – During this phase of the project, we begin forming the shape and layout based on information and content collected during the discovery phase. We utilize several web-based mock designs so that the client can view various elements on the web and how the content can be displayed. Once the initial concepts are approved, we move into content modifications and page layouts for client review and website content revisions.
Project Development and Performance – Once all concepts and design elements have gone through the review and revision process in phase two, we can begin to load final content and begin page testing. Each page and section of the new website is tested for functionality and visual appeal.
Project Launch – The purpose of the launch phase is to prepare the website for public viewing. This requires final polishing of design elements, deep testing of interactivity and features and, most of all, a consideration of the user experience. Testing in the production environment is important because different servers can have different features and unexpected behavior (e.g., different database host addresses).
Project Post-Launch – While this is the last phase of the project, it is one of the most important. During this final phase we provide our client with all documentation and source files used in developing the website. We also provide content management training for all elements of the plugins and/or third-party applications used in development.
